Why not just uninstall exim rather than disabling it? It's not going to be used in this scenario is it?

unfortunately debian insists on an mta dependency for lots of other packages, so you have to have exim or similar installed.

Default Concerns about Debian

mmorse,

Why are we not supposed to use Debian when installing NE? Which are the implications?
If I have instaled Zimbra Opensource and I'm going to upgrade to NE, do I have to migrate the Distro?
I thought I saw NE to Debian in the roadmap, but I just checked and it is not.

I understood the reason to be that there's no official support for it (and that they don't test on it, so they can't help you with it even if they wanted to). Which is a shame, because the NE editions are only supported on pay platforms, and I can't sell my bosses on BOTH buying linux ("but isn't it free?!") AND paying for support for open source software -- which they demand that software we use be supported. :/

You could install Zimbra on Ubuntu 6.06.x LTS, you don't have to pay for support for that.

Thanks

Debian is not a platform that is currently supported.

To receive support for Zimbra NE you must be on a supported platform, Debian is not currently a supported platform. You could also check bugzilla and vote for any RFE for support NE on Debian.

Default Vote to get Debian Supported

Ok folks,

I filled a ticket at Zimbra Support requesting Debian Network Edition of Zimbra.
Support team asked me to vote at this bug:

Bug 10274 - Debian network version

Please Debian users, vote to get things up!

Thanks
