Due to the way zimbra installs and upgrades, I think any version suitable for apt-get is a long way away.

For anyone interested, here is a first attempt at a community binary for 8.04 64bit (32bit to follow). The changes necessary so far from UBUNTU6_64 target are tiny, so I'll submit patches shortly.

Any luck with a 32 bit version?

It's coming! Takes a long time to build the initial ThirdParty repository for each platform. I'm off on business for a week, might not get released until I get back.

That'll do. Maybe Zimbra themselves can see how easy, I use that lightly, it is to make newer binaries and do it themselves since 8.04 is an LTS version.

It's planned, once finished there's also quite a bit of other QA work behind it that has to get completed first.

Making the binaries is a small part of supporting a new platform for Zimbra. They have to commit to supporting that platform and all the new code, bugfixes, testing, QA and support issues that go along with it.

The diff for 8.04 is miniscule, the diff for Zimbra supporting 8.04 fully is much larger

Any word on the stability of this build? I am trying to install Zimbra on a 64-bit platform and I am looking at either installing the beta for 6.06 64-bit, or this community build for 8.04. I would prefer to start fresh on 8.04, but I would hate to run into a bunch of problems with it, since the community sourceforge site is empty (no posts in the forum).

Any recommendations?

PLEASE NOTE:

Ubuntu 8.04 LTS was hit by this OpenSSL/OpenSSH security issue:
Security: Debian-Based OpenSSL issue

If compiling from source, do so with CURRENT p4 syncs only, and not from any of the tar balls found on zimbra.com or sourceforge.

dijichi2's current build on SF is SAFE.
