This is exactly the problem i have, too. I'm running a brand new server with Ubuntu 7.10 in 64 bit (there is 16 GB of RAM in it, so i don't want to install a 32 bit system). I hope to get help here...

Has anyone solved this issue? I have been checking on this daily and there is very little activity? It would be great to get the latest version of Zimbra installed and tested.

It's very well documented what platform/architecture combinations are supported and yet for a new server you've deliberately chosen a completely unsupported combination! If you want 64bit, install CentOS/Redhat. If you want Ubuntu, install 6.06. You can still access large amounts of memory with 32bit OS, just use hugemem kernel.
I have posted hacks in the past to run 32bit zimbra packages on 64bit debian/ubuntu, there do seem to be extra hurdles now. 5.0.2 introduced perl checks, this was an extra check due to the centos/redhat perl upgrade debacle and is now getting in the way of the previous hacks. A word of warning - 5.0.3 deliberately goes out of its way to check the underlying OS and refuses to run if it detects a non-supported version.
I'll download the latest ubuntu package now and resubmit an updated hack for those of you that really need it, but for the love of god just use a supported OS

And still have not heard back from support I am hoping one of you has a resolution or did you just install the 32-bit editions. Disgruntled IT Admin
