Default [SOLVED] Upgrading to 5.0.2 Backup steps

I would like to ensure a smooth upgrade to 5.0.2. I am currently on 4.5.6 on Ubuntu 6.06LTS . I am a linux newbie and mail server newbie so mercy. My plan is to backup the Zimbra dir to another drive first for safety . What commands would tar(zip)it . Install 4.5.11. check everything if its good then on to 5.0.2. . Is it simply a matter of stopping zimbra and running the install for each upgrade version . Discounting the backup how long should each install take?

    Thanks
    Cecil

    Welcome to the forums Cecil,
So for starters is this NE or FOSS?
    In a terminal:
    su - zimbra
    zmcontrol -v

    A good path would be 4.5.6 > 4.5.11 > 5.0.2
Be sure to read the release notes: 4.5.11 & 5.0.2 Released!

Ok, then in addition to your drive backup you could also make use of CLI - zmbackup Network Edition Only - Zimbra :: Wiki

    4.5.6_GA_1044 > 4.5.11_GA_1751 > 5.0.2_GA_1975 UBUNTU6 NETWORK Edition - all cleanly
Now go home, feed the baby, & get some sleep!
