Hi,

I have a really strange bug with zimbra 5.0.1 GA NE installed on Redhat 5.
When I create a new HTML mail with IE6, IE7 or Firefox on Ubuntu festy, I can't write text in the body.

I need help to confirm the bug, please help !

To reproduce the bug :
0) in preferences>Signatures, remove your signature
1) in preferences>Composing>Composing messages>Compose, choose "as HTML"
2) save preferences
3) In Mail, create a new mail
4) HTML editor is displayed
5) bug : It is impossible to enter text in the HTML editor

Tested with :
- IE7, on Windows XP and Vista, zimbra 5.0.1
- IE6, on Windows XP and Vista, zimbra 5.0.1
- FF2 on Linux, zimbra 5.0.1

Can you confirm ?

If yes, go to this issue and add vote/comment :
Bug 23993 - Compose as HTML is not working when "as HTML" is set by default

This bug may be related to :
Bug 11384 - New mail compose: cursor does not appear in the message body

Hi Mario, could you please try and see if you still have this problem after upgrading to 5.0.3+?

Hi Mike
I did think to do that but there wasn't any information about this bug in the release note http://files.zimbra.com/website/docs...se%20Notes.pdf

I'll try an upgrade to 5.0.4 but I need the time to build a test enviroment.
Hope to make the test in the next week.

Mario

Upgraded to 5.0.5 but the problem is still there.
Have tried in both http mode and https mode but it is the same.

In the left bottom corner of the window there is a warning about error on the page.
If compose messages in new windows is unchecked this is the error:

The error in 5.0.2 is
Line: 6531
Char: 1
Error: Invalid argument
Code: 0
URL: https: //serveraddress/zimbra/

The error in 5.0.5 is
Line: 6545
Char: 1
Error: Invalid argument
Code: 0
URL: https: //serveraddress/zimbra/

If compose messages in a new windows is checked this is the error:

The error in 5.0.2 is
Line: 16035
Char: 2
Error: Invalid argument
Code: 0
URL: https: //serveraddress/zimbra/public/launchNewWindow.jsp?skin=sand

The error in 5.0.5 is
Line: 17445
Char: 2
Error: Invalid argument
Code: 0
URL: https: //serveraddress/zimbra/public/launchNewWindow.jsp?skin=sand&localed=it

Hope this helps.

Mario

Updated to 5.0.6 and the problem is still there.
I have many complaints from users.
They would like to use the advanced interface and send email in html.

I can't seem to reproduce - and no matter how I play with signatures as well (though I did just find Bug 28361 - HTML Client : can't type in msg body using IE & text mode).

We've put some stuff into bug 11384 for 5.0.6 - srenon, sktwolf 11, manens - can you still reproduce like mario after upgrading to 5.0.6?

Noticing email's in bugzilla on 23993, there's no us tld's domains after a while...is everyone here using french, italian, irish, or romansh, etc?

Anyone willing to provide a test account on their machines can PM me the details and I'll attach it to the bug privately. (If you're NE you can do the same by opening support ticket for attaching login info to 23993.)
