Default installing on ubuntu 6.06

hello.....

i am new to linux and wanted to install zimbra on ubuntu and found ubuntu 6.06 as a relevant OS,

can i try this guide to install it How To Install Zimbra Collaboration Suite (ZCS) On Ubuntu | HowtoForge - Linux Howtos and Tutorials

please help me with the installation..
and how should i declare the hostname ?
and get a valid MX record in DNS..

The guide you found is quite good as well - it is what I used the first time I set Zimbra up. As for adding the appropriate DNS records, your DNS registrar's technical support can probably help. That's where I got my advice for DNS.

The same requirements apply to all the versions of Linux, correct /etc/hosts file, correct DNS A & MX records etc. apart from that just run the ./install.sh script and search the forums. It should be fairly straightforward.
