Thank you for your post.

I read through the thread, and though it does have a lot of information, I'm still a bit in the dark about accessing any management or user interface tools. I think the install is working correctly, but I can't really tell unless I can actually use some tool that is provided by zimbra, so that I can see if it's successful or not.

Okay, sorry for the long time without any reply. So, as of now, I am able to actually get a complete install, all the way through to the "starting servers"

But I still don't know how to get to a GUI. I've tried the https://ip:7071 but to no avail. I'm not sure if this would be becuase of a port conflict on port 80 during installation. If it is, does the GUI address get changed, or is it resolved some how?

Thank you for your time!

Also, if it helps, here is my zmsetup.log output. It seems it's having troubles connecting to the MySQL server, which I'm not entirely sure why that is.

It's Zimbra 4.5.10, and SLES 10.

I'm rug installing MySQL prior to installation, could that be it?

if it helps, here is a sh file I run right before installing the Zimbra (Mind, you, I'm doing all this on a VM right now, so I'm not running this script over and over, just when going back in snapshots)

Code:
#!/bin/sh

#################################################
# The variable @MYIP@ will represent my IP addr #
#################################################

echo "Turning off firewall"

/etc/init.d/SuSEfirewall2_init stop
/etc/init.d/SuSEfirewall2_final stop
/etc/init.d/SuSEfirewall2_setup stop
SuSEfirewall2 stop

echo "Stopping POSTFIX..."

/etc/init.d/postfix stop

echo "Starting base installs..."

rug install --no-confirm gmp bind-devel apache2 mysql php4 java2

rug install --no-confirm apache2-mod_php4 php4-session php4-cURL php4-gmp java2-jre

echo "Starting Services..."

/etc/init.d/mysql start
/etc/init.d/apache2 start

echo "RPM'ing Cache Nameserver..."

rpm -Uvh ~/Desktop/ZimbraComponent/caching-nameserver-7.1-3.noarch.rpm --force

echo "Editing /etc/hosts file..."

sed -i 's/^127.0.0.1\s*\t*localhost/&\.localdomain\tlocalhost/g' /etc/hosts

echo "Copying over and editing zone file..."

cp /var/named/localhost.zone /var/named/sbstests.com.zone

################################################## ############
# These following sed's change the zone file to look just as #
# described in the Zimbra & BIND tut. #
################################################## ############

sed -i 's/\$ORIGIN localhost.//g' /var/named/sbstests.com.zone
sed -i 's/1D IN/IN/g' /var/named/sbstests.com.zone
sed -i 's/root/sbstests\.com\. mail\.sbstests\.com\./g' /var/named/sbstests.com.zone
sed -i 's/^\(\t\+\)IN NS\(\t\+\)@/@\1IN NS\t\tmail\.sbstests\.com\.\n\1IN MX\t10\tmail\.sbstests\.com\./g' /var/named/sbstests.com.zone
sed -i 's/^\(\t\+IN\sA\t\+\).*$/\1@MYIP@\nmail\1@MYIP@\nwww\1@MYIP@/g' /var/named/sbstests.com.zone

chown named:named /var/named/sbstests.com.zone

echo "Setting Nameserver..."

sed -i 's/^nameserver .*$/nameserver @MYIP@/g' /etc/resolv.conf

hostname mail.sbstests.com

/etc/init.d/named reload

echo "Unpacking the Zimbra Files..."

tar -xzf ~/Desktop/ZimbraComponent/zcs-4.5.10_GA_1575.SuSEES9.tgz

chmod +777 ~/Desktop/ZimbraComponent/zcs/install.sh

It appears something may have been using the port the Zimbra MySQL app wanted to use. If you had in instance of MySQL running before the install, I would say that was a problem.

I'm not familiar with rug. Is it sometype of rollback?

rug is basically a trusted source of catalogged RPM's. I hope that's it, I'll try installing without the MySQL and see how it pans out.

Thanks

Awesome! Zimbra is now up and running!! Thank you very much for all of your help Zimbra Team.

I do have another question, and that is, how will this application interact with other applications on the server? I know it's meant to be a stand alone, but we are hoping to package other apps (such as alfresco, sugarcrm, etc..) with require MySQL and Apache and the sort. Does this app generally have issues working along side others?

I wouldn't recommend sharing the Zimbra install. That's not to say it can't be done. It's simply not meant to be done and therefore may cause lots of headaches. I have two Zimbra servers up and running on dedicated machines with absolutely no issues - but then I tried to follow the Zimbra team's instructions and advice as closely as possible.

I'm sure a Linux "guru" would be able to share the install but I'm not quite that adept... yet.

Good luck with your Zimbra experience and enjoy.
