Default Zimbra network test install issues on CentOS 5.x

I am trying to demo out the network edition of Zimbra. Downloaded and installed on CentOS 5.x machine. Install process went just fine one issue:

"Initializing Documents...sh: line 1: 27319 Segmentation fault..."

Once install was done, I tried to log into the admin at myip:7071/zimbraAdmin but it just fails. Nothing shows up. When I login as zimbra user and run "zmcontrol status" everything is running except the mailbox.

mailbox Stopped
zmmailboxdctl is not running

I checked and MySQL is working properly. I disabled sendmail, dovecot which were on the machine prior to install. Actually, I was running postfix, spamassassin, dovecot and postfix on the machine prior to this install.

Any ideas?

which NE package did you download ? at this point in time the NE version is not officially supported on CentOS, but this is being discussed.

I downloaded the 5.0.1 for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 x86. CentoOS 5 is basically RHEL 5 for the most part. I'm not sure if my previous config of the test box (postfix, spamassassin, dovecot, etc) may have messed w/ the Zimbra install.

I'm eager to try it out and see if it will work for our company. I'm fine going w/ Debian if its supported although I prefer RHEL due to my comfort level.

Can you log in as zimbra user (su to root then su to zimbra) and try "zmmailboxctld start" ?

Then show us the logs (/var/log/zimbra.log).

I thought it might be my previous install of postfix, dovecot, spamassassin, etc... so I simply re-installed the OS on the box, then installed ZCS and its been running solid for a week now w/o any issues.

FWIW - I did a clean install of CentOS 5x with bare minimum base. I then ran the ZCS install.sh script and installed the needed dependencies, all via yum. After that ZCS installed just fine. I think I had an issue with CentOS 64bit install. I don't recall offhand if I found a way around it or if I just used the 32bit version for this test. If only I kept better notes

Default zmmailboxd.pid: No such process

I have the same issue in Ubuntu 6.06 TLS & Zimbra 5.04 FOSS.
stale pid 31018 found in /opt/zimbra/log/zmmailboxd.pid: No such process

tail /var/log/zimbra.log
Apr 12 12:51:01 server17 postfix/qmgr[5017]: 96122530989: from=, size=1115, nrcpt=1 (queue active)
Apr 12 12:51:01 server17 postfix/lmtp[8052]: connect to server17.nimet.info[79.134.108.180]: Connection refused (port 7025)

Cant telnet to any other port on localhost execpt to 25.
Every other port says Connection refused.

Is this related to the other thread you've posted in here: zmmailboxdctl is not running ? Doesn't make much sense to post a problem with Ubuntu in a CentOS thread.

Have you disabled the firewall and SElinux on this server? Have you tried shutting down Zimbra then killing any left-over zimbra processes and then restarting Zimbra? If you have, what errors do you get in the logs?

Hi, thx for replying.

I'm going to start a new thread to explain what I think happened and how I think I solved it. (Almost 20hours of work behind me so I'm not too sure what happend

This and similar problems I have seen around here are connected. (Not OS related but rather Perl related.)
