Default IM: MSN and other networks

Hi

I enabled IM on my 5.0.1 ZCS with the following commands
Code:
zmprov -l -v mcf zimbraXMPPEnabled TRUE
zmprov -v mc default zimbraFeatureIMEnabled TRUE
zmprov -v mc default zimbraFeatureInstantNotify TRUE
restart server
But there is no icon in the webclient for adding a MSN (or other) buddy, only local Zimbra accounts... How can I enable this?

Thanks,
Tobias

you can't! that functionality may be added again at a later date. but for now you can only IM to members of the local server.

And in other posts is written, that it works with 5.0 GA if you enable it (f.e. Testing 5.0RC2 - How To Enable Instant Messaging?)

So, I think it should be possible to activate it on GA. But I don't know how =(

even when enabled you can only IM people on the same server. You can no longer IM people on MSN etc. It is noted in the 5.0.1 release notes.

Ok, I read it in the release notes...

Quote:
Update about Instant Messaging feature - In order to ensure the
scalability of our server software and provide a quality experience to our
customers, we have removed IM interoperability with AOL and MSN that
was present in previous 5.0.0 beta releases. This functionality may be
restored in a future release.
But, are you shure that it's fully removed (code) or only disabled via configuration?

I think it should be possible to enable it so it can be tested to give a feedback to zimbra for improving it and then release it in a later version...

AFAIK the code is still in there but I do not believe you are able to enable in the same way you could in 5.0.0. All you get now is the ability to IM somebody on the same server as you.

and only by using the webmail, you can't currently use IM clients

How did you enable it on 5.0.0? Only with the commands I mentioned in the first post? Or did you do something else to enable other networks than Zimbra local?

@Zimbras: What do you say to this topic? I think, testing is very important for IM...

Anyone know of a way to remove the MSN and AIM logos from the IM tab?

We'd really like to use the IM feature for internal IM, but having the MSN/AIM logos/links on the page is really confusing to some users, since they can click on them and go through the motions but nothing happens.
