Quanah,

I find amavis taking up load on server and sometimes hanging up, causing postfix to defer mails. I checked amavis password with ldap server and it is connecting fine(though no success line ).

[zimbra@server ~]$ ldapwhoami -x -h mail.domain.com -ZZZ -D "uid=zmamavis,cn=appaccts,cn=zimbra" -W
Enter LDAP Password:
dn:uid=zmamavis,cn=appaccts,cn=zimbra
[zimbra@server ~]$

$ ls -l /opt/zimbra/amavisd
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 29 Jul 16 23:02 /opt/zimbra/amavisd -> /opt/zimbra/amavisd-new-2.6.4 (directory)

But I can't confirm if amavisd is linked to the right version, I can find these too in /opt/zimbra besides amavisd-new-2.6.4
* amavisd-new-2.4.3
* amavisd-new-2.5.2

and in /opt/zimbra/amavisd-new-2.6.4, this is all I could find.

$ ls -l /opt/zimbra/amavisd-new-2.6.4
total 8
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 63 Jun 17 05:21 DB_CONFIG.amavisd
drwxrwxr-x 2 root root 4096 Jul 16 23:02 sbin
[zimbra@amavisd-new-2.6.4]$

any thoughts?
That doesn't look quite right...

On one of our 6.0.5 servers this is what we have:

Code:
mail2:/opt/zimbra # ls -al amavisd*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root   29 Feb 28  2010 amavisd -> /opt/zimbra/amavisd-new-2.6.4

amavisd-new-2.5.4:
total 12
drwxr-xr-x  3 root   root   4096 Dec 29  2009 .
drwxr-xr-x 43 root   root   4096 Feb 28  2010 ..
drwxr-xr-x  2 zimbra zimbra 4096 Sep 11  2008 .razor

amavisd-new-2.6.4:
total 20
drwxr-xr-x  4 root root 4096 Feb 28  2010 .
drwxr-xr-x 43 root root 4096 Feb 28  2010 ..
drwxr-xr-x  3 root root 4096 Feb 28  2010 .spamassassin
-r--r--r--  1 root root   63 Feb  3  2010 DB_CONFIG.amavisd
drwxr-xr-x  2 root root 4096 Feb 28  2010 sbin
mail2:/opt/zimbra #
Hope that helps,
Mark

Directory layout looks correct to me. I do know amavis can get very slow depending on what it is processing, there may be some tuning tricks that exist for that.

Post Thank you

Thank you quanah and mark. But can we make sure /opt/zimbra/amavisd is linked to the right binary? I am gonna have to search a bit on tweaking amavisd, any help on it would be great.

Postfix freeze when load spikes due to amavis taking all resources, perhaps my rules are incorrect or spam rules conflicting?

When I said the directory layout was fine, I was including the symlink to the correct version of amavisd.
