Default v5 steel/bare/vanilla sidebutton skins

I have upgraded to this version successfully (or so it seems so far) but I have one problem, namely that the usage of the 'Steel' skin causes a JS error and the user cannot login (begins login and then hangs/ends at the steel display, empty).

Is this a known issue? Is there some doc I can provide?

Default R.I.P. Steel

Steel has reached it's end of life and won't be included in 5.0.

Say it ain't so!

Is there a newer skin/theme being introduced which has a similar layout & style?

So the problem is that the left tab style is being depticated in favor of the top tabs.

However, not all is lost. We're going to be pushing more active theme development by the community. So, if you want to keep the steel theme, you probably can rewrite it for top tabs.

My display is 1440x900, and vertical resolution is precious. Even a single side tabbed 5.0 compatible theme would prob give me a start to make something I like.

I hope someone can get it to work as the other skins are well - bad looking and harder to use.

Ohhhhh. . . .add my voice to the chorus of people preferring the side buttons! Is there a programming reason they have to be abandoned?

I prefer the color scheme of steel too, but the side buttons are much preferable to top tabs, color aside IMHO.

Just been informed by the UI team that we will have a modified steel skin, but the tabs will be at the top, and left tabs won't be supported anymore.

So basically nothing will ship with side tabs? Is this a technical issue, or a design issue? I just want to know in case I decide to go ahead and make my own skin.
