Unhappy [SOLVED] Unable to connect to pop server

Hi,

I have just installed and setup zimbra and the webclient is working 100% but I am having issues connecting using pop. I have setup outlook and used test function which passes the send test but fails the pop test. I also cannot find any thing in the log files.

I am using the opensource version.

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks Mark

Is it failing to authenticate - is plain text auth on?
check your /opt/zimbra/log/mailbox.log

I think if you TLS only login is enbaled, your Outlook should not use the regular POP port which is 110.

Unhappy I posted this in the wrong thread Sorry!!

Hi Randall,

I have managed to sort out the pop problem by turning on clear text. I now have the problem of sending emails ... relay denied. On my other mail server I use smtpauth. Does zimbra support it?

OK ...reading some of the wiki's I find that it does and I think it's enabled.

zimbra@mailserver:~$ zmprov gs mailserver.itismail.co.uk | grep Mode
zimbraMailMode: http
zimbra@mailserver:~$ zmprov gs mailserver.itismail.co.uk | grep Auth
zimbraMtaAuthEnabled: TRUE
zimbraMtaAuthHost: mailserver.itismail.co.uk
zimbraMtaAuthURL: http://mailserver.itismail.co.uk/service/soap/
zimbraMtaTlsAuthOnly: TRUE

Not sure why I am getting relay denied

Thanks Mark

No problem, I moved it from your other thread to here, then deleted the duplicate for you.

Default OK .... fixed again

Thanks for moving it.

I had to use SSL before it would send an email. This is a bit of a pain as I need to move a lot of users across to the new server and they currently only use smtpauth.

Question SSL Cert and outlook

Hi Guy's,

I have managed to workout that the only way to send mail externally from a client on the internet is to enable SSL on the email client.

Using Mac Mail prompts to accept the cert and thats it. It works fine.
Using Outlook continually prompts to accept the untrusted cert.

1. How can I send using smtpauth without SSL
2. If I need to use SSL how do I stop outlook prompting everytime I send an email. Do I need to buy a trusted cert?

Thanks Mark

Did you try false on zimbraMtaTlsAuthOnly?
Quote:
-In order to use smtp authentication, zimbraMtaAuthEnabled must be set to TRUE
-If zimbraMtaTlsAuthOnly is also TRUE, the POP3 and IMAP clients must be configured to use ssl/tls for smtp auth.

Code:
sudo zimbra
zmprov ms server.domain.com zimbraMtaTlsAuthOnly FALSE
you can also use:
('su zimbra' or 'su - zimbra' but your on ubuntu)
(or zmprov -l to provision via ldap)

Last edited by mmorse; 10-16-2007 at 03:31 PM.. Reason: switch that to sudo for ubuntu
