Default Zimbra 5.0 RC1 - HTTP ERROR: 404 NOT_FOUND

Hi,

I tried to update from Zimbra 4.5.3 to Zimbra 5.0 RC1 on a Debian 4.0 system.. The whole process seemed to be successful, however in the end I got :

Initializing Documents...failed to initialize documents...see logfile for details.

After checking the logs I saw a bunch of 404 errors, then I checked my zimbra url and got :

HTTP ERROR: 404

NOT_FOUND

RequestURI=/

Powered by jetty://

That's rather annoying, as I only have one server (and that's the production one), so I can't receive mails now.

So, anyone got an idea on how to fix that without wiping the 1GB of mails currently stored in zimbra ?

I presume you have a backup of your previous installation ? If so restore back, and as it is a production server hold out until the GA release comes out.

Have you tried restarting Zimbra ?

Yup, of course right now I'm restoring the backup, and hoping the old zimbra will still work from that (I did a backup just before updating on my home computer, so that's a bit slow to restore).

Anyway I had a ton of problems with zimbra (stats not working, broken stuff, etc) so I was hoping to switch to something better.

EDIT: Ok bad news, can't get the backup to work (now running Debian 4.0 anyway) so I guess it won't get fixed this way. I'm kind of stuck now. I guess I'll have more luck switching back to good ol' systems like qmail

If you have a backup, you can make a clean install of the version that's working for you and then restore your backup.

I suppose you backup the whole /opt/zimbra/ for this purpose?

In fact the whole machine gets backupped on a regular basis.

I reinstalled the machine on Debian Sarge and right now I'm uploading back zimbra, and will try to get it working within a few hours so I don't get too many lost mails (try to keep under 24hours of downtime).

ok, after some work, I finally got zimbra working again, however when running zmprov -l gaa I just got the two antispam accounts...

I guess zimbra is totally broken. I can still get the messages in "store", I'll write a script to convert that to some stable mail system and switch back to a mails/community manager not 100% linked to the mail server.

If you upgraded, then we always backup LDAP before we do anything.

Look for an openldap-data.prev directory within the Zimbra directory. Pick the newest one. If you have one, let us know. I'll help you with a recovery.

Well, I finally managed to get the 5.0RC1 working (had to recreate all accounts and reinject all mails), however now the problem is different : the web server seems to randomly stop working. I'll try getting more infos from the logs, but I think I can handle it from this point.
