Use 'zmproxyctl stop', enable those services you disabled earlier then restart Zimbra. It should then come up without problems.

The installer should ask you a question about whether you want the proxy enabled, perhaps you said yes?

Let me make another suggestion here, try this 'zmperditionctl status' - is it running? If it is then same routine stop it etc.....

If perdition isn't running then what's in the logs from the startup that failed?

The answer is, no you shouldn't have started the proxy - it's not needed on a single server install.

thanks I think I got a mess on my hands, I think I need to start over from scratch, the output is reporting that:

zimbra@xxx:> zmperditionctl status
imap4 is not running
imap4s is not running
pop3 is not running
pop3s is not running

making things worst while trying to issue zmperditionctl start I find that
/opt/zimbra/perdition/sbin/perdition doesn't exist at all... I'm using zcs-5.0.0_RC1_1538.SLES10_64.20071003002232, I have no idea why that directory is missing. Maybe I should punt on SLES and use Fedora, thats my only other option.
