My O.S is FC4 linux.
IN network configuration DNS settings and hosts settings is required before instalation (by default settings its taken means hosts is localhost.localdomain) & in hosts tab its not showing 127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost (if i give another host its saving but not installing zimbra).
Is it any Dns and hosts setting requied , its not work in local system?
or its required any putty?

for additional information am pasting

You need to turn off your local versions of MySQL and Tomcat. Zimbra installs it's own and your may conflict. Not sure why our tomcat is trying port 8005. Did you change the port?

Default Thanks for giving reply

Hi,
I installed successfully Zimbra in my local system.thanx for your reply.
One thing is i want to discuss regarding database point of view,i created sample project which is in /home/var/fst/www/html/ in this place i copyied jsps.

In windows environment i have done this project. using mysql database that related table files are there in mysql\data\one database. that related database files i copied in to /opt/zimbra/db/xxx/one directory.

in catalina/localhost i created one.xml file which will points above context path /var/fst/www/html/ one , and jndi, connection pool also i configured in that xml file. but my one project is not working(in one.xml file i loaded drivers for my sql org.mm.mysql.jdbc.Driver(related java connector i copied in zimbra-common/lib directory.

if i executes likes this https://localhost:7071/one/one.jsp
in one.jsp i wrote database logic its giving error that

can't have permission to access localhost.localdomain @ database 'one'

So where am not cleared is
1) if i use zimbra given database(mysql4) any where security realted issues are there to execute my one database ?
2) we can maintain 2 same databases and same webservers(Tomcat5) in our system(one is for zimbra one is for my applications)?
3) instead of using my local database and webserver shell we make use zimbra given database and webserver with out any problem?

These are not related to zimbra instalation but after installation of zimbra if am not able to run existing project that will be problemetic i think ?

That's reason am posting

'Thanks to zimbra forums moderators'

Thanking you,
Krishna prasad

Glad you got it running. We don't reccomend you run any other databases or webservers on your Zimbra install. For small home/personal installs this is ok, you'll just need to run your own database and webserver on it's own port.

No idea why your app is not working. We don't think you should run apps against our database and without more knowledge about what your doing there is no way we cna help you.

Sorry.

Default how can i embed this product

Hi,

This is krishna, i have been working on Zimbra from past couple of weeks, it is working fine and iam impressed with that. Now we want to intergrate the same in my own project also, but Zimbra is coming with bundle of softwares installed and configured creating its own environment. We got our server installed and configured with almost all teachnologies(like Tomcat,MySQL,LDAP,Apache.......) that Zimbra require to function.
I would like to know whether is there any other product/project which i can embed or integrate in my project and which uses already installed softwares of my production server. If not any new product, how to configure existing Zimbra with some changes that use default technologies installed.
In our production server configuratation is:
OS-Linux FC2
MySQL 3.23
Apache 2.0
Tomcat 4.0

Thanks in Advance.

With regards,

Krishna prasad.

Default using existing services

There is no way to use the existing software to run the zimbra service. If you wanted to do that, you'd have to search the forums for information on building from CVS, and then you'd have to customise the code.

Also: The versions of software you're using are very out of date, and it's not likely that zimbra will ever work well on them without serious surgery.
