Default Webmail works local but no where else

Greetings.. maybe you can help me. This is something really strange so I thought I would ask for help. I searched the forums and couldn't find any other post like mine.

Basics...:
Centos 5 64bit
Zimbra Version 4.5.6_GA_1044.RHEL5_64 Jul 10, 2007
Network Version Trial

Problem:

The Admin Web Console works fine from outside the local subnet but Web Based e-mail does not. If I point a browser on a workstation on the same subnet as the server, to the address: http://1.1.1.10 it comes right up and requests a login. If I try to do the same on other subnets, it does not work. The page times out with a "connection refused" error in the browser.

More Info:

Telnet to 1.1.1.10 port 25 from any other subnet works fine
Telnet to 1.1.1.10 port 110 from any other subnet works fine
Accessing the Management console on any other subnet works fine

Webmail does not

I can access WEBMIN (web-based admin tool for Linux) from the other subnets no problem as well as ping the box from any of the other subnets. So I know it's not a lan/routing/ip issue.

Also, because of this problem, SELINUX and IPTABLES are both disabled

Of course I tried rebooting as well.

Reason for the Need:
Several branch locations are connected via VPN Bridges (fixed VPN connections). All need access to the server both for POP3/SMTP & Webmail.

Suggestions?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Scott

What's the contents of your /etc/hosts file? Do you have a local DNS server installed? You probably need a Split DNS set-up.

Default Hosts File...

Here's the content of my hosts file...

Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.101.75 mail.******.com mail

Why would the content of my hosts file affect external access to the webmail function.

When local, I was accessing webmail at http://192.168.101.75. On the remote side, I was using the same url, http://192.168.101.75

I can understand mail delivery issues with hosts file setup. However, it doesn't make sense to me that it would affect whether webmail accepts a connection or not.

Thanks for your help.

Scott

The point about asking that was to see whether you've set it correctly.

I don't understand why you're using an IP address rather than a url to get to your server. What do you mean by 'On the remote side? Could you enlighten me on those points?

I also asked if you have a local DNS server installed (by implication with correct DN A & MX records), do you?

Default My respons...

I'm currently using the IP address because I do not have a public IP configured for this box yet. I do not have access to the DNS control yet for the domains to be used on this server. The server is still in "configuration" mode.

To further confuse things.. as originally stated, the web interface to the admin console works fine from outside the local subnet. However, the normal web mail does not.

HELP!

Thanks
