    1) Should I add domain1.com as another domain?
    http://www.zimbra.com/forums/install...html#post57856

    2) Should I make users under @domain1.com or @mail.domain1.com
    http://www.zimbra.com/forums/install...html#post57856

    3) Will the spam accounts and admin accounts work ok when they are admin@mail.domain1.com? Or should I give them aliases at @domain1.com?
Yes/No. These are forwarded internally, ie when you click "Junk", they get forwarded to that account. You only need one set per server. . not domain.

    4) Do I need to create @mail.domain2.com even if I make the users under @domain2.com?
    no. http://www.zimbra.com/forums/install...html#post57856

    5) Do I need to create spam accounts for these as well?
No. See question # 3. Junk accounts are for the server to learn. Once forwarded, the server takes care of the rest.

    Default Inbound Mail Issues

For some reason, when mail is coming in, the server tries to send it to itself using the outside IP.

Outbound mail works fine, and I was having an anti-virus issue, but I fixed that.

my hosts are correct... but I could repost them if need be.

Any ideas what I can check to see why?

    So now when i go

    host `hostname`

it shows me the outside IP, but I need it to show me the inside IP so it can send mail to itself properly.

is there a way to override this?

It's the last thing I need to do to get this working.

    Hi Surreal-
How is your DNS server set up? All hostname does is query for the machines hostname against the DNS server. You may be looking for the split domain setup. You can find the instructions on that in the wiki.

Sounds more like he needs Split DNS instead of split domain, which would be more for his novell migration than his dns issue...

Read this as well: Logical hostname - ZimbraWiki

    Surreal,
Per your issue of 'can send mail but can't receive' issue (based off that post you made in a 2005 thread)
    -wolfchev your domain?

It's not wolfchev, its wolfechev with an e =)

    My host file has:

    127.0.0.1 localhost
    10.180.70.143 mail.wolfechev.com
    10.180.70.143 wolfechev.com
    10.180.70.143 mail.wolfemazda.com
    10.180.70.143 wolfemazda.com

However, host `hostname` still gives me the public IP of mail.wolfechev.com

the 10.180 ip is the internal ip of the mail server.

My DNS records should be just fine at the name servers

Its just the local system that keeps trying to go out and come back through the router, rather than using the internal IP, or even loopback.

    There we go 'e'

Do you intend to give all your users just account@wolfemazda.com addresses? Or do they just need aliases to the 2nd domain?
-If so, you can always set up a virtual host so users could browse to the other domain url for the web-client interface.

    For starters:
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost

Try one of these too methods for your hosts file: (preferably which ever one is the hostname of your server)

    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
    10.180.70.143 mail.wolfemazda.com mail

    or

    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
    10.180.70.143 mail.wolfechev.com mail

What did you show being wrong with wolfechev's mx records?

I'll have to try that entry tomorrow when i get there.

Each domain has its own set of users also, so they need to be separated.

Thanks for all your help on this issue btw.

-Ok, but let's get the dns resolution working properly/as you intend with just one domain for now-then add another later.

    -make sure SELinux is disabled

    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
    10.180.70.143 mail.pickonedomain.com mail
(if one domain is the hostname of your server let's test that first)

Also, are you still having inbound mail issues?
