The proxy box is running perdition to proxy IMAP and POP, it also has the mailstore installed so we can use the same URL for webmail and IMAP The server is underutilized and we would like it to be the MTA for our system. It sounds like the answer to the question I meant to ask is, yes....
When you use a Zimbra MTA the mail goes through amavis, clamd and spammassassin only on that SMTP/MTA this process is not repeated when the SMTP/MTA uses LMTP to hand the message to the server that hosts that specific mail account.
