Default Migrate to a dedicated mta / amavis clam and spamassassin

We have 3 servers. mailstore-01, mailstore-02 and proxy

We would like to point our mx away from mailstore-01 and point it to proxy.

As we migrate our mx records (more than 100) will these message be scanned by amavis, clam and spamassassin twice, once by proxy and once on the mailstore or only on the initial smtp delivery to the proxy?

From what I have read the proxy will hand off as lmtp to mailstore-01 & mailstore-02 and ltmp does not pass through amavis et al?

proxy do you mean the POP/IMAP proxy or an MTA layer with Postfix/Amavis/Clam/SA? The only time amavis and the AV/AS stuff will run is at the MTA layer. Then it is handed off to the mailbox servers via LMTP. No scanning is done at the mailbox level.

The proxy box is running perdition to proxy IMAP and POP, it also has the mailstore installed so we can use the same URL for webmail and IMAP The server is underutilized and we would like it to be the MTA for our system. It sounds like the answer to the question I meant to ask is, yes....

When you use a Zimbra MTA the mail goes through amavis, clamd and spammassassin only on that SMTP/MTA this process is not repeated when the SMTP/MTA uses LMTP to hand the message to the server that hosts that specific mail account.

Thanks!
