I'm sure there's an easier method, and phoenix probably knows what it is

If you have access to the msg files, upload them into a directory, and use lmtp inject to inject the messages

zmlmtpinject is the command. The admin userguide has more info.

can't copying it to outlook in the mailbox folder work? since that folder connects to the zimbra server??

    Yes.
    Sorry, I speeded readed.

If it's connecting via MAPI and it's not syncing, you may wish to open a ticket.
If via pop3 or IMAP, then that will work.

You may wish to connect via IMAP first to move the mails over. Then move to MAPI

If the Scalix server is still running then use either IMAPSYNC to copy the mail or connect to both servers (Zimbra & Scalix) then drag 'n' drop the email from one mailbox to the other - if you use Thunderbird then login to the Zimbra account with '/tb' (sans quotes) appended to your login if. Thunderbird has a nasty bug that screws-up the dates on a copy.

Have you tried a re-index of the mailbox from the Admin UI?
