Default Problem with RHE 5

I've followed the steps in the CentOS HowTo, that where pointed to work with this release from RH...

But I get a strange message telling me that the RPMS aren't found by the installation :

The log file is just empty so I can't get anything from it, and after this I get this message :

ERROR: Installation can not proceeed. Please fix your /etc/hosts file
to contain:

Where is the ip address of the host,
is the FULLY QUALIFIED host name, and
is the (optional) hostname-only portion

Here is my hosts file right now :

# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost botagroupw
192.0.0.8 botagroupw mail.botanique.be

Help would be cool

Thanks...

Welcome to the forums.

Please read the Quick Start Guide for the format of the hosts file (or search the forums), you'll also need DNS A & MX records pointing to your Zimbra server - you should also disable IPv6 on your server.

127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx mail.domain.com mail

I notice you had a 192.168.x.x address- doing this locally? (ie: Don't currently have any DNS server records that you can edit?)
Check out BIND - for example: Making Zimbra & BIND Work Together

Those "not found's" are just a check for existing zimbra installs.

Default Much better now...

Ok guys, i've managed to install the thing and have it up and running

But I still have problems it seems with th MX records and with the domain name on the mail adresses...

It seems I'm not able to joind the machine through the domain by the DNS name (for ex : Domainx.com - The Best Domainx Resources and Information. This website is for sale!).

Our domain controler and dns server is a Windows 2003 Server machine...

Our domain is for example "domainx.com", knowing this the server name is "mail". This means that in the domain the machine is located as "mail.domainx.com".
I sent some messages to test the MTA and everything is ok and messages get out without problem the only real problem I have is that the other adress receives the mails from the adress "user@mail.domainx.com". I would rather prefer to have the adress formated as "user@domainx.com"... How do I do this ?

We also need to migrate from a MDaemon server... I've already searched the forums and wikis... but I don't exactly get the idea of how to do this exactly.

Thanks for the help.

Make a 2nd domain in the admin console-real easy (leave the old one in place for now-don't delete it just yet)

Have you taken care of external dns resolutions....
dig mx domain.com
Try using this site:
Quick Check - Pingability.com

User Migration - ZimbraWiki
Split DNS - ZimbraWiki

Exclamation Much better now

Sorry, double post...

I created a new domain in the Admin interface and it's working ok now for the "user@domainx.com" thing...

And I also fixed the DNS thing internaly... so I think everything is going smooth

Now the only thing to tackle is the migration of the hole old system (MDaemon).

I must say that now that things are running smoothly GOD I'm happy to have switched to Zimbra... And I'm eager to see how it handles spam and antivirus as soon as I deploy it as the main mail system here.

A.

Try following the Split DNS setup as described in the wiki. You can check your DNS setup with the following (run on the zimbra server):

Code:
host `hostname` <-- backticks not single quotes
dig yourdomain.com mx
dig yourdomain.com any
do that and post the results.
