Question Problem with zmlogger

When logging into Zimbra admin, I get the following error message:
"Server status data is not available. To see the server status, logger service must be installed"

Problem is, it is installed ...
zimbra@mail:/home/yann$ zmcontrol status
Host mail.thehumanjourney.net
antispam Running
antivirus Running
ldap Running
logger Running
mailbox Running
mta Running
snmp Running
spell Running

We are using Zimbra 4.5.5 network edition... Any idea?

Yann

Default

run a zmcontrol -v to get the full build info for us

Bug:
Bug 16377 - admin>server status: 'logger service is not installed' message is displayed

There's occasional solutions mixed in:
Server status data is not available
Logger says "running" on start but stopped in web admin
zmlogproccess error

Default Self Healing?

Well, I had the exact same issue, but I had some errors when I ran status, not the logger, but with A/V system. I was in fact looking for some type of solution this morning when I saw this thread, and I went to check which of the services I actually was having difficultly with so as to post them here.

Luckily for me I found none, and on opening the Admin Console all seems to be ok now. I am going to assume that shortly after the 12:00 noon rotation of the logs it has healed itself!

My question now is why? The problem started after I updated from 4.5.3 to 4.5.6 and was present all last week. I checked the general settings for the logger, since I had had issues with the initial install, it was SuSE thing at that time, but all the settings looked fine.

Now today, it seems to be fixed and that scares me to no end! Any suggestions would be very apperciated!

I am experiencing the same thing yet I am also experiencing the logger dying once in a while. I have never seen stats before.

I just found this in the WIKI and it applied to me so if your env is a multi-server one look here ... it may be your answer

Monitoring Zimbra Servers - ZimbraWiki

Read the first paragraph. It explains how to setup syslog for remote logging.

good luck

Default Thanks, but no answer.

My system is a SuSE system and while this Wiki has a lot of great info, including how to setup logging, it was not too applicable to my issue. Thanks for pointing it out, lots of good stuff there!
