You will (or should) have installed it yourself. I was making, perhaps wrongly, an assumption that you had a local DNS server. A local DNS server is also needed so we can resolve the local IP address of the Zimbra server otherwise you won't get mail delivered.

So, bind9 is installed on both machines. Is this the conflict, or is it port forwarding?
I have read the posts on DNS in a nutshel, as well the wiki on Split DNS setup...alas, I run debian and those were set up for RH or other distro and the file locations had me confused. If I could just find someone running zimbra on Debian..and find them in IRC, or elsewhere, I am sure this would all be running in a matter of minutes...instead of days and weeks.
The configuration should be pretty much the same whichever operating system it's installed on - having it on both machines is neither port forwarding nor the conflict. Is it actually running on one or both of those machines rather than just installed? If it's running on both of them I'd suggest you disable it one one of them. I'm not a debian user but there's a tutorial here that should help you - between that and DNS in a Nutshell you should be able to get it set-up. You'll also need to set the /etc/resolve.con to point to your local DNS server once you're done.
I followed the tutorial through, and was able to install a master server on my primary machine, without errors.
Today, I again was trying to get zimbra set up and running. I ended up running ./install.sh -u and then ./install.sh again. It installed without any errors, no DNS questions or errors, and completed, without error.
At this point I read this:

The connection has timed out
The server at fyrenice.com is taking too long to respond.
At this point I 'su - zimbra' and then run zmcontrol status and all return thus

Doesn't the above suggest I am correctly installed?

I also tried accessing via https://fyrenice.com:7071/zimbraAdmin and also https://david.fyrenice.com:7071/zimbraAdmin neither of which worked either.
Not sure if this helps but my domain, fyrenice.com, is registered and points to my LAN here, with ssh routing on port 22 to my 'scott' box...not to 'david' where zimbra resides. If I load up Sandy Chiropractic Office - Dr. Scott S. Jones it loads the simple page I have created on 'scott' in apache 2. I fail to see how attempting to log on to fyrenice.com:7071 can ever correctly route to Zimbra running 'david'.
so your mail (pt 25) is set to go to scott...and there's no mention of you running zimbra on different web ports-nor a mention of 7071 open to david...Ports 22, 25, 80 and 110 at least, are routed to 'scott' while ports 6881, 7025, 995, 993, 443 and 389 are forwarded/routed to 'david' in the Linksys web admin interface. I have mentioned this before, but it's back up the thread a bit.
Why don't you give us a little more detail on your setup...
You really need to examine your DNS if you plan to use this for incoming mail...
