Default Error Host file

Hi Folks,

here comes another dumb newbie question which is fine given I am new to linux.

OK I'm trying to install Zimbra but I keep getting the following error

ERROR: Installation can not proceed. Please fix your /etc/hosts file to contain:

127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost

Well I added the line to host file as is and then rebooted with no sucess So I then replaced localhost.localdomain with mailserver.xrar.com.au localhost which is name of my server, still no luck.

here is my current host file contents
127.0.0.1 mailserver.xrar.com.au localhost
192.168.0.2 mailserver.xrar.com.au mailserver

any thoughts this has got me really stumped.

Currently I am trying to install zimbra on CentOS 5 running within VMware.

Your hosts file must contain the line in the format given in the error message:
Code:
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
not the one you have.

You can check the setting by making the change, rebooting and then doing:

Code:
host `hostname` <-- backticks not single quotes
dig xrar.com.au mx
dig xrar.com.au any
to check the hosts file and your DNS A & MX records. I assume you also have plenty of RAM allocated to the VMware instance and your CentOS is up to date?

thanks for that.

fixed now, turns out it was my laziness to blame. I had not added "mailserver" to my DNS.
