2 Beta 4 on Ubuntu 10.04
Just installed 2.0 Beta 4 on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. When the installer asks if it should populate files for the user, nothing further happens. I don't see any application icon or any indication that it was installed.
Reviewing the forums, the whole installation area appears to be very rough. Surely someone could come up with a PPA?
can you copy-and-paste the installer output here?

(Y)es or (N)o [Y]:
After answering "Y", the terminal simply vanishes.
You may try answering "N", then run user-install.pl manually. Let me know what do you get in terminal.
What do you mean by "manually?" I am already clicking on it.
Really, it is not the user's responsibility to get installation figured out? Surely all these problems would go away if Zimbra took seriously its responsibility to the user. A standard Linux or Ubuntu installer is a minimum.
Zimbra Desktop version 2 is currently in beta, which means it's not finished. It means that if you would like to use it, that's great but please be aware that there may be some problems along the way. The idea of a beta program is that the users assist the developers in making the application perfect, it stands to reason that it wont be perfect while it still says beta on it.
Ok, rant aside, I'll offer clarification on your question. When jmhe said to run the script manually, he's refering to running that inside the command window. by typing "./user-install.pl" from the directory that script resides in. Are you familiar with the command line much?
You are right, a PPA could be made, it could even be added to the Ubuntu repositories, but I dont expect that to happen while its still in beta, look out for it when it hits general release though.
