What about Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit with Desktop 2 Beta 3

I'm getting this error after installing Desktop 2, Beta 2 or 3 and trying to start. "Failed to execute child process "/opt/zimbra/zdesktop/linux/prism/zdclient" (No such file or directory)". I installed xulrunner and xulrunner-dev, no luck.

My computer is a fully patched Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit desktop. I'm happy to build from source, I tried from the main branch, it failed. The last time the source code on the Sourceforge Community site was updated was last month, so I assume that isn't it.

Ideas?

try to install zd program files as root:

sudo ./install.pl

select "(N)o" when asked to install user data for user: root.

then run the user-install.pl as prompted, as regular user. let me if it works.

It won't install by default without root, needs write access to /opt. I've tried your process several times, I have also tried installing to a not standard path both as root and not.

I'm running zd2b3 on ubuntu10 64 without problems.
well, at least not runtime problems :-P

I'm seeing this on Linux Mint 9 x86-64, which is pretty much the same as Ubuntu 10.04. There's a solution for RPM distributions (Fedora, RHEL, etc) but not for Debian-based ones.

Is there a bug for this already? I couldn't fine one.

I just recently installed ubuntu 10.04.1 64bit and I am getting this error after running the install:

There was an error launching the application
Details: Failed to execute child process "/opt/zimbra/zdesktop/linux/prism/zdclient" (no such file or directory)

I installed the product as root and then ran the user install as myself as suggested above. I have verified that the files do exist and even if I go to the actual directory and try and run the zdclient from the commandline I get:

bash: ./zdclient: No such file or directory

Any ideas on other workarounds? I have checked all the log files and get no further errors, if there is a debug flag I can set to get more detail error logs that would be useful let me know. Its just hard to troubleshoot when the only error I get is not helpful at all.

I posted this in another thread, but it applies here, too. Install ia32-libs and it should work

I wish I could explain why, but I did file bug 50602 on it.
