Default [SOLVED] ZD requires Admin access? NOT a consumer product!

Just downloaded this thing. They are comparing it with Outlook and Thunderbird. Took me a while to figure out why it wouldn't load and showed Prism dialog. Turns out it must be changed to admin access to be launched on Vista or Windows 7. XP is 7 years old!

Imagine Outlook or Thunderbird installing, not working, then making the user figure out they need to change some admin thingy. Not wonder I hadn't heard of Zimbra Desktop before.

So how can we encourage these folks to make a real consumer app and spread the word? The calendar & contact sync with gmail mean it could be a real winner!

Which version were you testing? The old 1.0 or the newer 2.0 beta?

both!
both released and beta versions show the prism dialog. Need to manually change to administrator launch.

The installer needs admin access (of course), but running the app should not require elevation.

I use ZD2.0b2 (and used b1) on my Windows 7 machine without needing to elevate it to admin.

ah, thanks for this! I had installed the release v1 which didn't work at all. Then installed beta v2.

v1 required admin change. v2 didn't remove v1, so was running v1. LOL

All good in v2 beta. this app is really cool and i have high hopes for it.
