Default Frustrated!!!!

I know this is probably posted somewhere, but I have spent two hours trying to figure this thing out because I love the interface of this program, but I have to tell you after trying to find a fix for my problem and seeing others having so many other problems too, I do not know if I should get involved in this. Anyways, I CANNOT get this thing to work. I have installed and reinstalled and read and read and tried changing settings in my MAC, but still nothing, same thing, three icons going side from side with an error message "Couldn't access Yahoo! Zimbra Desktop server. If issue persists after reinstall, please check logs for errors and report to http://www.zimbra.com/forums/zimbra-desktop." What the heck. It should be easier than this. What am I doing wrong. I run Norton Antivirus, Norton Confidential and Firewall. I have turned the firewall off to see if that was the problem and it did not change a thing, but the application is allowed nevertheless. Any ideas??????

Upon installing the ZD app, there should be two files created:

zdesktop.out
zdesktop.log

Can you send these two files over? You can PM me if you wish.

Can we see the contents of the /etc/hosts file?

Red face Hi.

I am sorry it took me a while. I left home and fixing to leave again. Where would I find these two files in my Mac? Sorry to be ignorant, but with Windows I know many things, with Mac, some things I am still learning.

Most likely the files in question are in the installation directory:

Example
/Users/king0770/zimbra/zdesktop/log

Or use finder to navigate to the directories, that will work as well.

Also, I'd like to see the /etc/hosts file as well; you could probably copy/paste /etc/hosts into the forums, it's not huge. Mostly likely you'll need to use the Terminal.app to to view the /etc/hosts file. IIRC, the Terminal.app can be found in "Go => Utilities => Terminal"

Once you've found the Terminal.app just run this command:

cat /etc/hosts

I am only guess, but I suspect your /etc/hosts file doesn't have any contents when you install ZD.
