Default Zimbra desktop for linux cannot install

I downloaded zdesktop for linux a shell script (zdesktop_1_0_build_1537_linux_i686.sh) from the zimbra site.I tried to run it from the terminal as below:

bash zdesktop_1_0_build_1537_linux_i686.sh

but i got the following errors:
'desktop_1_0_build_1537_linux_i686.sh:line 7:syntax error near unexpected token '{
'desktop_1_0_build_1537_linux_i686.sh:'read_db_ent ry() {

The part of the script where this error is coming from is as below:

#! /bin/sh

# Uncomment the following line to override the JVM search sequence
# INSTALL4J_JAVA_HOME_OVERRIDE=
# Uncomment the following line to add additional VM parameters
# INSTALL4J_ADD_VM_PARAMS=

read_db_entry() {
if [ -n "$INSTALL4J_NO_DB" ]; then
return 1
fi
db_file=$HOME/.install4j
if [ ! -f "$db_file" ]; then
return 1
fi
if [ ! -x "$java_exc" ]; then
return 1

Your help will be appreciated, thank you.
Arthur

What OS are you using?

Can you try changing the permissions, and try again?

chmod +x zdesktop_1_0_build_1537_linux_i686.sh

./zdesktop_1_0_build_1537_linux_i686.sh

If this doesn't work, then run:

sh -x ./zdesktop_1_0_build_1537_linux_i686.sh

And lets see where it's failing.

Thanks jmhe,
Well ,i downloaded the zdesktop installers from Zimbra Desktop Downloads but i saw no provision for md5sum files. I downloaded one for windows that is working fine with my gmail account but the one for Linux failed to install completely.Its 50.8MB in size.
Both files never had md5sum files.
Thank you

My MD5 sum is similar to yours.
The errors i think are to do with some lines in the script at the beginning.

It should be exactly the same, are you saying it's not?
