It looks like there is a problem with the localconfig.xml file,
have you edited that file?
Code:
Caused by: org.dom4j.DocumentException: Error on line 23 of document file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Andy%20&%20Charlie/Local%20Settings/Application%20Data/Zimbra/zdesktop/conf/localconfig.xml : The entity name must immediately follow the '&' in the entity reference. Nested exception: The entity name must immediately follow the '&' in the entity reference.
Can you post it?

it looks like, the "&"in the path is the cause of the problem
Code:
 <value>C:\Documents and Settings\Andy & Charlie\Local Settings\Application Data\Zimbra\zdesktop/jetty</value>

I have opened a bug for this: Bug 37459 – need to escape special chars in localhost.xml

For now, you can uninstall ZD and reinstall it under C:\Program Files or other folders you like. (just don't use the default suggested location)
