Default smtp error when i try to install zimbra

hello
when trying zimbra configuration, after filling alll fields and having confirmed, i have this message shown in red at the top of the configuration popup :
"service.FAILURE: system failure: SMTP connect failure"

i tried many things without succeeding although my provider 'free.fr) uses zimbra as the online webmail display.

Are you using the server version or the desktop client ? Have you contacted free.fr for support ?

thank you uxbod

i want to use the desktop version, that's where i get problems for the installation. The free.fr support tells that for they only use the server version for their customers (it works) , the fact to choose to have the desktop version is the choice of the customer and their support is not done for that, so i have to find the bug.
anyway i uninstalled zimbra desktop until i find the way to get it installed normally in a forum. thank you.

I believe that currently the only access to the Zimbra beta at free.fr is via the AJAX webmail interface (my ISP is also free.fr).
