Default Gmail won't send

I installed Zimbra desktop last week (version 0.92 build 1433) and it will not properly synchronize my Gmail account. It won't send mail (but it will receive) and it won't synchronize my calendars. I can manually add my Google calendars but they won't update when I make changes on Google.

I don't know how to update the server settings on the Google account in Zimbra. Perhaps there is a problem with the outgoing server? (at least for sending mail. Not sure about calendars.)

I get this error message when I try to edit the account under "setup":
Cannot connect to "SMTP server". Please check host/port and network connectivity.

Any ideas?

I have deleted the Gmail account in an attempt to re-add it without errors. Unfortunately, I have been unable to add this account at all. I cannot add it as a generic IMAP account or as a GMAIL account. I haven't tried POP but that seems less desirable since I synch with 2 computers and a blackberry. I am not sure logging will work. Any other ideas?

When you say it doesn't work, what error do you get?
