Default [SOLVED] java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError on install.

java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError

Hi.
First thanks for reading this. Sorry if this is answered already somewhere. I have searched and only found 2 seemingly relevant posts. Neither have been solved. I was gonna paste links to them, but the spam filter grabbed it and tossed it I guess. My bad...

I get the-

java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError

-error on install. I have Zimbra on my laptop. Works great and I really want it on my desktop. Funny the laptop is runnung Vista 64bit, and here I am having trouble on an XP machine. (sp3 btw. Fully updated and newest Java.)

Log file here.

Well it was going to be but once again the pesky filter . :/

If I should post my log file please let me know. And if there is a relevant section and you don't need the whole thing say so as well. That darn thing is long.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or help.

Well I would except I don't think it actually gets that far into the install. I did a serious search for the file you wanted and even used wildcards... The log file I do find and the one that is referenced in the error is this...

install4jError30221.log

Here is a paste of the file...

I have one other thing I think may or may not be related. When I first ran beta 5 setup it did not want to install into my documents and settings directory. It was complaining about the symbols of my username. It is
!nk$linger. My error is a language error I would guess by the name.

Thanks for getting back so fast. I hope that the log file is what you need.

Yeah that must be it: you can't have '!' in the installation path. You would have to use another path.

Thanks for the help so far. That didn't work. I tried to install into my root directory, got the same error. I think it may have something to do with my name still. I don't know what all installs where but I imagine that something is still trying to install to an !nk$linger directory somewhere.

To answer that I thought maybe a name change would help. Not so much. It did change my login name, however the documents and settings folder still have the !nk$linger name applied to them. Same results again.

I guess if I want this I will need to create another user and then transfer everything over after I see if it will install.

Unless of course anyone has a better idea... Please. My method sounds like a royal pain.

Thanks again for the kind assistance. Greatly appreciated.

This computer is not shared, right? You can install it under "Program Files".

Wow that was fast. Thank you. I tried your suggestion and installed to my Program files just now. Still no good. Curious, the log files are still showing up in my Documents and Settings\!nk$linger folder no matter where I try to install. Maybe some temp files are going there as well.
Oh, not shared. only 2 user accounts are enabled. Mine and admin.
Please no hurry on the response. I have to get some rest and I will check back in the morning Oklahoma time.
Thanks again.

Can you follow the steps here (Yahoo! Zimbra Desktop - Zimbra :: Wiki) to completely uninstall ZD. Then reinstall under "Program Files"?

Ok, I tried that and even went a few steps farther and deleted every reference to Zimbra throughout the registry. Then, I did a complete search of my computer and deleted every instance of Zimbra there as well. Re-Downloaded and re-installed into the Program Files folder and still get the same error.
Do those symbols represent commands to the jre or something? I'm just curious what would make this such a problem. I've never ran into anything that has refused to install to one of my user folders before now.
Not griping, just wondering aloud. I am certainly able to fix this by adding a new user without special characters in the name and then transferring everything over. Pretty sure everything would go smoothly. I would rather learn something I don't know already first if I can tho...

Thanks again jmhe. You've been a great help so far.

Your paths is like this: C:\Documents and Settings\!nk$linger\Desktop. Is !nk$linger really your username? If so, then you'll have to install somewhere outside of your user home. Both the installer exe file and the install destination have to be on a path without special characters like ! and $. Thanks!
