If you go to System Preferences->Sharing, is the "Computer Name" specified? If not, can you try to give one?

Default System preferences for Sharing

There was a name for the computer under sharing. I notice that the name had three spaces in it, "David Asofsky's Computer". Just for testing I renamed the computer sharing name to "DA" and everything worked!

It was either one of two things:

  1. The sharing name can't have any spaces
  2. The sharing name can't contain "'" (an apostrophe)

Thanks so much for your help with this and I look forward to using the product!

i am glad it all worked for you. unfortunately i can not reproduce the problem you had, even i gave "David Asofsky's Computer" as the computer name for my mac osx 10.5.5. i only remember someone else on the forum reported that his computer name was blank and it caused a similar issue. that's why i suggested you to look at it...
