by the end of the installation i get a dialog box with the message:

"Failed to inject zimlets. Some features may be missing"

the desktop icon is installed ok, but when i run it, it loops over 3 red icons on a white background ... and after a min or so it displays another dialog window saying:

"Couldn't start Yahoo! Zimbra Desktop server, giving up"

any suggestions,

thanks!

ps.: i saw some similar postings, but they were not exactly the same ( -- there was a similar error related to an older version of Ubuntu, without a solution though), so i decided to post again.

Anything of interest in your logs? They should be located at /home/<username>/zimbra/zdesktop/log.

You could also try running '/home/<username>/zimbra/zdesktop/zdesktop start' and see if you get any errors in the console.

i also did try to start zdesktop from the command line before, but here is the output when i try it again:

$ ./zdesktop start
Starting zdesktop
$ nohup: appending output to `nohup.out'

after that the log file is regenerated, but seems to contain the exact same exception.

ideas ?
thx!!

Default Won't install on Ubuntu 8.04 386

Same story here - with the same installation messages (I compared them line by line) and same result when I attempt to start via shortcut.

There is a Ubuntu 6.06 deb package - is it worth trying this?

Also I'd like to know how to uninstall the failed installation - any pointers or do I just find all the bits installed and delete them?

Cheers and thanks.

This means the jetty.xml file is messed up. This is the first time I see it, so not sure why. Please send <install>/jetty/etc/jetty.xml to me. My email is jjzhuang@zimbra.com

ah, actually do you have anything running on port 7633 or 7634? it looks like a port conflict. zdesktop backend service uses 7633 and 7634.
