Default About the migration tools for the translation.

If i translated the zcs 3.0 into chinese , now i want to translate the zcs 4.0 into chinese.
How to migrate the old language file to the new language file?
Do you have some migration tools for the translation.

Unfortunately, we don't have a tool like that. But it would certainly be useful to have a tool that identified the changes between specific versions of the message files. It would be a little more difficult to have the tool move existing messages that have not changed into the new file because you would lose ordering and formatting. We could do it but it would make it harder to track differences between versions.

Yesterday I wrote a php tool to check the translated files i18n-check and I think it's not gone be to hard to add the migration functionality. I'll give it a try today.

One question for the moderators, who is responsible for approving attachments? There are a few attachments waiting in the I18n forum, and most of the contibutors have signed the agreement.

AFAIK KevinH does this the most time. Is he on vacation at the moment?

Yes, KevinH is on holiday at the moment. It's a job for an Admin so I guess some of the other Zimbra guys can do it.

Thumbs up

Here is a tool that will migrate the old language file to a new language file.
The tool does 3-way comparing between the 'old translated file', the 'old english' file and the 'new english file'.
It then will create a new merged file, plus comment lines about changed and new lines.

Installation:

* Download the attached i18n-migration.php.zip file and unzip.
* copy i18n-migration.php to /opt/zimbra/httpd/htdocs/
* Point your webbrowser to http://SERVER:7780/i18n-migration.php

You will have to copy the old translated file and the same english version of it, to the default msgs path.

Regards,
Stefan
