Default I'm not happy. At all.

I'm not happy at all with the 5.x "translation team" (at least for french).

This is my personal (not moderator) view ; as a Zimbra user, previous contributor (to 4.x french translation) and Zimbra admin (supporting unhappy users).

There are huge errors in the translation (search/replace is not a way to do some translation) and obviously no testing was done with the translated files.

I've spent a little time on a "fixed" translation file (and how to use it).

I'm spending lots of time on the AdminUI because parts of it are not translated at all.

And now I've discovered the french translation breaks the conversation view. Until then, only Lotus Notes was using "Réf:" instead of "Re:" to prepend the subject line. That was a real pain.

5.x Zimbra french translation uses "Réf.:".

This is unbelievable...

Since we use translated zimbra, the number of problem are growing up... Unhappy users come with some requests and we're trying to do or best...

The translation in 5.0 is still in beta for me...

Lots of bugs are opened, see here : http://www.zimbra.com/forums/i18n-l1...ise-5-0-x.html

Some of them are blocking : unusable shared mailboxes and/or address books or broken conversation view.

Did at least the "translation team" took contact with the 2 guys who made the previous -and great- translation for free ?

I'm currently delaying my upgrade to V5 NE because i don't wnat such problems.

Does "from scratch" answers your question ?

The "share" bug should make it into 5.0.2.
Most of the other translation bugs I opened are still "unconfirmed".

*** sigh ***

not a good example of open-source community work... shame really. Why Zimbra didn't integrate a fully and perfect translation done by you two folks is a mystery to me...

I hope the translation issue pulls off, there are some big customers in France all wanting v5...
