Default Languages in 5.0

Hi all.

I thought 5.0 was supposed to have all the languages "inside"...

I actually found all the languages files but it (Zimbra) does not seem to be able to display them correctly depending on the browser language.

I checked the release notes and saw we were able to change the language as a user ("preferences", "general" tab) but found nothing in the Admin UI about this either.

Do we (admins) have to force it by CLI ?
This would be "zmprov mc default zimbraPrefLocale fr_FR" for french.

Did the "automagic language choice" (based on browser) disappear to be replaced by the user choice ?

We will take the user choice (from prefs) first. If that is not set we'll use the browser lang setting.

It also works for French by changing the option in the User Preferences/General tab.

Hi Bill,

I use Firefox 2.x on W32 and Suse 10.3 in german. Now i change the language in zimbra from German to english and login new. I have select "Always compose in new window", the zimbra main window is in english but the new window is in german.

Cu

Achim

Hi Achim

You're correct, it does still use the browser language for the buttons. I'd been testing it with a compose in the same window and hadn't noticed that behaviour. Could you please check bugzilla to see if it's been reported and if not file it as a bug?

Maybe I was not clear enough : after upgrade, all accounts were in "US English" (thus giving us an english interface). I used the CLI and "fixed" it.

I haven't hit the "button in browser language" bug because we're all using french browsers here 8)

However, I found some mistakes in the translation.
Bill, as it's now "Zimbra handled", do you know the way to submit new/fixed translations ?

I didn't understand that from your earlier post. If it changed the default language I guess it's most likely a bug.

If this is for the Zimbra supplied translations then it's the usual bugzilla route or post in the forums, I think bugzilla would be the better place to file it. There was a post earlier from GregA about the new translations, just in case you didn't see it.
