Default Ready to help with Spanish l10n

Hi all,

I'm a member ot the GNOME Spanish Translator team and I'd love to help with Zimbra's Spanish localization. is there any effort regarding this? Are you using GNU gettext?

I hope i18n has been taken into account and we're sort of ready for l10n. Whatever the case I'd be happy to help.

Nice project and cool product,

Antonio.

Hi!

The message files are located in the source at:

ZimbraWebClient/WebRoot/js/zimbraMail/config/msgs/ZmMsg_en.js
ZimbraWebClient/WebRoot/js/zimbraAdmin/config/msgs/ZaMsg_en.js
Ajax/WebRoot/js/dwt/config/msgs/DwtMsg_en.js
Ajax/WebRoot/js/config/msgs/AjxMsg_en.js

So translating those would be a good start and a big help.

Default Making sure of files to translate

Hi there Kevin,

So i've just installed Zimbra on a CentOS 4.0 box in /opt/zimbra as installed by the provided script.

I've found the following files:

/opt/zimbra/jakarta-tomcat-5.5.7/webapps/zimbra/js/ajax/config/msgs/AjxMsg_en.js
/opt/zimbra/jakarta-tomcat-5.5.7/webapps/zimbra/js/ajax/dwt/config/msgs/DwtMsg_en.js
/opt/zimbra/jakarta-tomcat-5.5.7/webapps/zimbra/js/zimbraAdmin/config/msgs/ZaMsg_en.js
/opt/zimbra/jakarta-tomcat-5.5.7/webapps/zimbra/js/zimbraMail/config/msgs/ZmMsg_en.js

Looks like they are the files you're talking about, right?

Antonio.

you have to gzip *Msg_en.js to *Msg_en.js.jgz in order to have your translation working.
it's correct?

Antonio, Yes those are the files. gtobia is also corrent that on a production build the appication expect .jgz gziped files. For now if you edit/translate the plain text then gzip them manually. If you do a developer install this will happen automatically. You can see my blog post on how to do a developer setup.

Default Already working on it

Hi there Kevin and all,

Yes, I just wanted to report i've (slowly but steadily) already started
with the localization. The information you provide is helpful. Yesterday
one person from y local mailing list offered some help and I've written
him with some instructions today replying his mail.

So stay tuned.. i'll be reporting on out progress.. so far I've translated
some 500 strings...

I expect the work to be finished by the end of the month now that it
looks I'm getting help.

Antonio.

Great. Internally we've started to plan how localization/internationalization packs will look. We want to make it much easier for folks to translate our app. Glad your already going on this.

BTW: Have you actually got the Spanish strings to show up in the app? Or do you need help getting them to load?

Antonio - if you need more help on translating, let me know. I'll more than happily help out. Don't want to duplicate efforts, so let me know where you're at, and I'll pitch in. I'll probably have to do the plain-text route, since I'm serverless right now, but that should change over the course of the next week or so.
