    Default Gmail data storage?

    Hi

I've just installed Zimbra (so far so good).

I'm using it with my Gmail account and I'd like to know if any of my data is being stored on the Zimbra servers, or whether the software is simply pulling/syncing my info from/with Google (Gmail)?

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers

The downloaded data is stored on your hard drive only and nowhere else.

Kewl... and thanks for the fast reply Bill! I'm at the very start of my journey here so appreciate the help and support!

So if I need to 'delete' an account (still playing and finding my feet), the data is 'deleted' from my PC, Gmail is left 'untouched'... and that is it, no data is stored anywhere else?

The VMWare (Zimbra) is simply an interface to allow access to the data (Gmail in this instance)...

You can reset an account to remove all the data and removing an account should also remove the data. There is a 'but' and that is: it depends on the type of account and how it's configured. On download a POP3 account normally removes mail from the server. An IMAP account has the option to remove mail or leave it on the server at download, the same is true of an account on a Zimbra server.

I'd always suggest a backup before removing an account, just in case. ZD also has the ability to perform a scheduled backup, always a useful feature.

I forgot to add that Zimbra (the company) is no ko longer part of VMware.

Thanks again! I'm running in IMAP so the good news is that all appears fine!! The good news is to know that downloaded data is stored on my hard drive only and nowhere else (apart from Gmail)... I can get in now and have a good look around

Thanks again for your speedy replies and support!

    Cheers
