Default Problem with SMTP gmail connection when Avast SMTP scanning is active

    Hi guys,

The new version of Avast antivirus (8) made changes to the way it handles SSL mail scanning. In the older version you had to disable SSL in your mail client and create a profile in Avast and Avast would transfer your mails through SSL. ( I personally didn't support that approach).
In the new version you don't have to do this anymore. This, however, leads to not being able to send Gmail SMTP over SSL if Avast is scanning SMTP. When I am verifying my account, I get the following error message:

    Code:
service.FAILURE: system failure: SMTP connect failure
    Display error details
com.zimbra.common.soap.SoapFaultException: system failure: SMTP connect failure ExceptionId:com.zimbra.common.service.ServiceException: system failure: SMTP connect failure I cannot send email unless I disable Avast's SMTP scanning. Is there another solution?

    Regards!

An anti-virus scanner should not interfere (or cause problems) with a mail client - it should be transparent. I'd suggest you contact Avast and see what they've done to cause this problem.
