Default zimbra Desktop and web client displaying different emails

the zimbra desktop and the web client are not in sync. The desktop is properly displaying emails from a period from Jan 1 through Jan 22, however, the web client is not displaying those emails, and some in the company ONLY use the web client.

Anyone have an idea why they are in sync?

    Thanks,

    Mark

Meant to say "why they are NOT in sync"?

What is different about the web client in listing emails as opposed to
    ZD?

OK, just to see what's what, I decided to experiment with a different email client.

I set up kmail to use zimbra as a pop and a separate account for imap access.

as a pop server, the kmail did download email from the zimbra ne server. However, like the web client access,
it did not show email from a period from 12/23/12-01/21/13.

And the imap connection didn't download any emails. That is not surprising as I've not set up the zcs as an imap server.

So, while the zimbra desktop is doing it correctly, showing all email from the period above, neither kmail nor the web client did.

This is strange behavior. Anyone have a clue?

OK. I know what occured, and I've been partially able to correct it. However, emails transferred into the relevant directories are still not showing up, whether imported or copied (yes, I know copying loses metadata, but the imports don't seem to be retaining the metadata either).

Can anyone explain this to me?

Also, mail has metadata. Do Contacts and calendar also have metadata?

    thanks,

    Mark
