    Default Spam Folder

My hotmail account in Zimbra Desktop does not include the spam folder. I discovered recently by checking the hotmail site directly that important emails had gotten caught in my spam filter which I was unaware of because these e-mails are not downloaded to Zimbra. Do I have to keep checking my spam folder directly on the Hotmail website every day or is there a way to do this through the Zimbra client ? Thank you for any useful responses.

    Yes.

Unfortunately no. The Hotmail service is only accessible as a POP3 server and that type of service doesn't allow you to subscribe to any other folder than the ones you can see in ZD.

This problem is due to Microsoft's failure to allow the Spam folder to be viewed via pop3.

People have tried the following tactics to reduce the need to check their Spam folders online so regularly (they would still need to check at least monthly):

    1) Maintain a comprehensive set of contacts in the Hotmail addressbook - this ensures emails from those senders (usually) end up in your inbox.

    2) Set Junk settings to 'low', and filter them manually in Zimbra.

    3) Find the toolbar icons > Click the arrow down on Junk > Safety options... Select > No Automatic Filtering.

Most emails should now end up in your normal inbox.

NB. Mail from blocked senders is still moved to the Junk Email Folder.

Thank you for those suggestions, I will give them a try.
