Question Migrate Outlook 2003 files to Zimbra Desktop?

From my perusal of this forum, it would appear that it is NOT possible to do the migration from Outlook 2003 desktop to Zimbra desktop; i.e., there appears to be no straightforward method to import my exported Outlook 2003 .pst file to Zimbra. This is a deal-breaker for me if that is indeed the case. After a simple computer upgrade including Win7 (which does not support Outlook 2003), I'm stuck! Otherwise, ZD looks like a fine open-source alternative, except for this. Do I need to invest $50 in Outlook 2010, or is there someone out there who can tell me how to do this hopefully simple transition. Thanks to all!

There is currently no direct import of data from Outlook into Zimbra Desktop. Your best course would be to connect your current Outlook to a free mail service and upload all your data to that, when it's complete connect a copy of ZD to the same account and let it sync the data.

I don't know why you think Outlook 2003 isn't compatible with Windows 7, as far as I know it's supported (but I admit it's a long time since I've used MS products): Windows 7 and Outlook | HowTo-Outlook

Thanks, Bill. Re: Win7 and Outlook 2003, when I purchased a laptop which came with Win7, and tried to load Outlook 2003, I got messages indicating its unsupported. I'll give your option a try though, before I invest the $50.

Make sure you take a backup of your .pst file before you do anything with it, I wouldn't want you to lose anything.

Showbiz, I have Win7 64-bit and I use Outlook 2003 with no trouble (well... with no more trouble than I had under XP).

I was here to find this out as well. So the Outlook connector will not work with Zimbra Desktop?

    Thanks.

The Zimbra Connector for Outlook has nothing to do with Zimbra Desktop. The ZCO is a plug-in for Outlook that lets it sync with a Zimbra sever, Zimbra Desktop is an offline mail client that syncs with a Zimbra server and other mail servers.

That's too bad. It's a deal breaker for me, too.

I guess the reasoning is that Zimbra Desktop is free; however, I'd pay something for a version that could import PST files directly.
