It's in the initial Setup screen for the account, go back to that screen and change the setting to your requirements.

It doiesn't delete any messages unless you delete them, the setting you're referring to is an IMAP setting and this isn't an IMAP account. You can also create a regular backup of your ZD accounts in your Preferences tab.
In the top-right of the ZD UI you'll see a 'Help' button, click on that for some help.
