Contact Groups dissapear and Contacts multiply

I am trying ZD 7.0.1 on a machine running Windows XP. It took me some time to figure out how to import a cvs file of Outlook contacts so I could use them to try to form groups. I finally imported into a new Address Book and then moved everything to the contacts file because Contacts appears to be the only local file I can use to build groups. Then, once I had assembled a few groups, some very strange behaviors cropped up almost immediately:

1. Groups that were listed in Contact will randomly appear and disappear from the listings. It now appears that all the groups I built have disappeared.

2. The individual contacts doubled and tripled. That is, all the contacts would be duplicated or triplicated.

3. Some individual contract files would revert back to an earlier state from the edited state I had saved after the editing.
