Default Adding many addresses to bcc

In Zimbra 7 we can't copy email addresses from To field to the bcc field anymore. This technic we used for adding many addresses from contacts to a newsletter email for our customer.

How can we add many email addresses to bcc on a simple way?

Is this really a question about Zimbra Desktop (which is where you've posted) or ZCS web UI?

The simple answer is, you can. You can even right-click on the address and move it to the BCC field.

You didn't answer the question about whether this is Zimbra Desktop or ZCS.

You've received an answer to your original statement, which was:

Are you now asking a different question? If you want to manage multiple email addresses for a 'newsletter' then use something like mailman or a distribution list.

Default Alternative Method

In Zimbra Desktop 7.0.1 you can select multiple email addresses to move them to the BCC field. NOTE: Before selecting the email addresses you should have clicked on the Show BCC link on the right side of the new email message.

Method 1: Simply drag with the left mouse button to make a box to select as many email addresses as you want. Once they are selected you can drag them to the CC or BCC field with the mouse.

Method 2: Click on the first email address in the To field. Hold down the Shift key on the keyboard and then click with the mouse on the last email address in the To field. Now drag the selected emails to the BCC field.

This works just like selecting files on a Windows Desktop and moving them around. This should work faster than selecting one at a time and choosing Move to BCC. You can also try using the Ctrl key when selecting if you only want some of the email addresses to move.

Hope this helps!

That's all fine and dandy, but try this.

Copy multiple email addresses out of, say, a text document and try to paste them into the TO, CC or BCC field; you'll only get the first one. The rest drop off into god-knows-where.

This is on zDesktop 7.0.1. It works fine in ZCS.

Any suggestions?

This has been reproed in 7.0.1 on both Mac and Win platforms and 7.1.1 beta on the Mac. Bug 61440 filed.

Default Another suggestion

In ZD you can paste addresses into the TO, CC, or BCC fields from a list of email addresses that are separated with a comma or semi-colon. As a workaround you can reformat the text document to have the addresses separated by commas instead of carriage returns and then paste it into the TO field. Or maybe you can export them as comma delimited text from whatever place you are getting them from originally. In ZD the TO, CC, and BCC seems to view a line return as the end of what you are pasting. So, I can see posting that as a bug, but they may view it as a feature request instead.

Also, this is really a new question. The original thread has been answered already. Perhaps this should have been a new thread REMcycle.

You're probably right...I should've started a new thread. However this one was going, so...

That said, I wouldn't consider adding to ZD something ZCS already does perfectly well as a "feature request".
