Thumbs down ZDesktop 7 SLOW

I recently "upgraded" from Desktop 2.0 to 7.0. I find 7.0 VERY slow, and buggy (displays partial messages, duplicates, etc.). Never had a problem with 2.0. I would expect an upgrade to be...wel, an UPGRADE, not a step back.

It works fine for me on several Windows and Linux systems (32bit & 64bit systems).

We have had some very slow performance even with fast multicore desktops using Ubuntu and other Linux distros. Interestingly the performance returns when we use Chromium to view the ZD.

If you use another browser like Chrome as the default, see if it makes a difference to you. Click Setup in ZD, then scroll to the bottom of the page of accounts and you will see a footer saying Open in Web Browser.

It will open in the system's default browser, in our case Chromium.

In the native ZD UI it can take 8-10 secs from clicking on a message to seeing it updated in the reading pane. With Chrome it is instant.

Something odd going on with the Mozilla based ZD UI with Linux presumably.

We haven't got much deeper with it at the moment. There is an odd Chrome bug with hitting return in a message and zooming down to the end of the message, below the sig so we havent switched entirely yet.

Edit - That Chrome bug not showing now after some updates.

I think I saw an RFE on this (using a Chromium build instead of Prism) but I can't find it right now 8(

You can add one to the bugzilla.

Default Worse than slow

Zimbra virtually shuts my system down. It uses so much memory and cpu nothing else can run. My wife and I are both software developers running substantial software in the pursuit of our daily jobs. As long as Zimbra is running tools like Eclipse takes forever to complete simple syntax checking. All I have to do is completely shut down Zimbra and everything goes back to normal. We are switching to Thunderbird. I haven't run into any problems with competition for resources with Thunderbird running. All I need to do is export all our our email from the Zimbra desktop client to the Thunderbird desktop client. There is virtually nothing I can find on this through Google. Does anyone have any suggestion of tools available for this?

I tried Zimbra 7.1.1 and 7.1.2 deskop and must say that it is terribly slow!
Then I tried Zimbra Desktop 2: This is really faster than version 7!
Why?

Windows 7 32 bit - Intel Core2Duo - ssd drive - 3 gb ram
