Default Zimbra for personal use

Am I trying to do the impossible? I am part of a small campaign group that I would like to electronically join up. I run Windows 7 (64bit) on a desk top with Outlook 2007 and Word/Excel/Powerpoint 2007 and would like to sync with a Dell Netbook Inspirion Mini 10 running Windows 7 starter and Word/Excel/Powerpoint.
I have no special attraction to Outlook other than the multi account emails (I have 4 different email addresses from two ISPs that I need to keep up to date with), address data base, and the calendar functions.
Do I have to move to Open Office and Thunderbird or can I stay with Microsoft? Or can I abandon them all for Zimbra Open Source?
Can I get my Outlook addresses and calendar into Zimbra OPen Source and can I share .doc, .xls and .pps files through Zimbra Open Source?
I find it a pain when I deal with all my eamils on the desk top and then am inundated by the same emails on the netbook when I am away form teh house.
Thanks for your help for what is probably a too often asked question,
Regards,
john

Keeping them in sync with each other with Zimbra Desktop (and even Outlook for that matter) would work best if you set up your email accounts as IMAP instead of POP.

Also, Zimbra Desktop is a full email application, so you would want to either use that or Thunderbird; not both.

I have not tried exporting Outlook addresses or calendars and importing them into Zimbra, so I can't speak to that. Zimbra Desktop will help keep your Calendars and Contacts synchronized between the different computers if you have it sync to a server running Zimbra for email, or using Gmail - but probably not likely with using a typical ISP mailbox.

Hope that helps.
