@StephenJudge - Bit of an aside:

I agree posts should be polite and with as much complete information as possible, whatever the forum, software or nature of the post.

However just because this is open source, community and sponsor company based software, doesn't mean we should expect poor quality software, quite the reverse.

Part of an ongoing problem for Zimbra is lack of wider community participation in the code itself and encouraging low expectations on various aspects of quality won't encourage active involvement and the vital real user feedback software like this needs to develop and thrive. With open source it is not the users that need humility but project coders and designers so they can hear more of what the users says the software needs to accomplish rather than the interesting features they want to implement. I think a little indignation and shouting from a user is better than deference to the programmers, in this case, paid to develop the code. One of the points of open source is to balance the power and align the interests better between users and authors.

Personally on my Linux desktop I was invited to upgrade today, which I attempted and it too failed to work. No obvious detailed feedback was given, no direct opportunity to contact the developers simply a 'click here to do it manually', which might solve my problem but doesn't help improve the software. If that happens for a director or senior manager in a company using Zimbra it will cause more damage to Zimbra's reputation than a vocal member of the forum posting in exasperation.

Not having a go at you, just I think the balance should be put that Zimbra is out to make a profit by writing brilliant software more cheaply than with proprietary techniques by using the experience of a much wider pool of users. What funds the development is that some people will pay to support critical Zimbra based operations. That is not the same as a few people giving their time to a project alongside a day job such as with some F/OSS projects out there, and again that is not a criticism of Zimbra or VMWare just noting the range of types of projects.

As a long time member of the community, I don't mind exasperation of the OP, but like you I too would find rude and impolite posts counter productive!

Just upgraded; this is the second time in a row I've had an unsuccessful upgrade (the other one being 2.0.0 to 2.0.1).

Is a solution being worked on? It's been a couple days now since I've been able to check my email using Zimbra, and I'm now forced to use webmail.

For the record, I'm having the same problem. I tried upgrading, then tried installing 1/2 dozen times, all to no avail. I also tried to revert to the old version with no success.

Unfortunately we do not seem to be getting anywhere - are the developers not concerned about these errors and bugs? Could they not just acknowledge the problems and let us know what is being done to try and help us users?

I appreciate the work that goes into software like this and it is because we like the software that we want to continue using it but just need it to work.

They are not bugs that developers will necessarily see unless you file a bug report in bugzilla, that would be the correct place.

Default Zimbra 2 to 7 Upgrade

I too have had repeated problems with this upgrade. I had to uninstall the 7 upgrade, clean my registry (Norton), then manually clean my system to be able to reinstall version 2. I have moved back to 2.0 until someone has a solution for this upgrade problem. I am seeing the same thing under Win 7 Pro 64bit as well as Win 7 Home Premium.

See my post above yours, you should file a bug report.

    Default Bug report:

    https://bugzilla.zimbra.com/show_bug.cgi?id=59541

    Hi all,

It's a start to the process, but probably incomplete. Anyone experiencing problems please do try to post a comment with any info or at least a me too ;-)

Bill: Bugzilla really puts users off reporting problems, we have a fairly large number of users and none are inclined to run the Bugzilla gauntlet and report stuff.

I think Zimbra is missing a huge number of common complaints as Bugzilla is not inviting or simple for average non-dev/non-techie user. Even I don't post every bug and problem I find!

Is there a better way? Some sort of forum triage or even a post reader that will flag common words/topics/complaints etc?

Could you help me report a bug please regarding the duplication within GMail accounts. Basically with GMail there is an "All Mail" folder. However, when you delete an email from the "Inbox" Zimbra does not remove it from the "All Mail" folder. I have had a look at Bugzilla but cannot make any sense of it.

    Thanks.
