Default Synchronise?

Can I synchronise Zimbra Desktop (on Win XP Pro) *directly* to an iPhone *without* going via any public cloud? I'm not too worried about mail but I would like to be able to sync contacts, calendar and tasks. I'm happy(ish) to go via iTunes on the PC. If such a direct sync is possible, what do I need to install on the iPhone? On the PC?

No, you can't. Zimbra Desktop is a mail client i.e. it connects (and synchronises) to an email account on mail server not another mail client.

Thanks. Some other application authors don't follow this strict client/server model; see, for example, BirdieSync, which allows the Thunderbird/Lightning *client* to sync with the iPhone *client* by providing two components - one for the PC and one for the iPhone. I hoped that perhaps Zimbra had done something similarly useful.
